GET TO KNOW DENISE:
“To protect our Montana quality of life and grow our local economy, we need great schools and a clean, healthy environment. I am committed to being your voice in Helena.”
A PROVEN TRACK RECORD
After serving eight years in the House, I have learned that relationships and good ideas need time to develop. In 2019, I was able to pass HB467, a bill to protect the ratepayer from added costs if a power plant closes without having been paid for. This bill passed with support from both sides of the aisle because of relationships I had cultivated. I know the 2021 session was challenging. I pledge to bring the skills I’ve developed during my eight years in the Legislature to every discussion and debate to protect our impressive Montana Constitution, fund healthcare, childcare, education and affordable renewable energy in 2023.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
I sponsored, and passed, legislation ensuring wind turbine placement is not in the path of migratory birds.
I sponsored, and passed, legislation that enables Northwestern Energy to buy bonds at the lowest available rate instead of charging rate payers excessively. This promotes future investment in renewable and affordable energy instead of Colstrip.
I supported C-PACE which provides low cost loans to businesses for energy efficiency and solar installation.
I am actively working to ensure that any discussion of nuclear energy is honest, transparent, thorough and fact-based.
ON-GOING ISSUES
I will work tirelessly promoting legislation to:
Adequately fund public education
Fund Medicaid expansion
Make pre-K education available to all
Assure individual rights for all Montanans
