DENISE HAYMAN

I am committed to being your voice in Helena.

To protect our Montana quality of life and grow our local economy, we need great schools and a clean, healthy environment.

MY STORY

My family moved to Bozeman in 1986. To support my children in school, and because I believe strongly in providing children a quality education, I soon volunteered to be Parent Advisory Council president for the Willson Science and Technology and, later, Irving schools. I was elected to the Bozeman School Board in 2000 and served for 14 years. I have been active in raising money for schools, including working with a small volunteer group to raise $2.5 million for the remodel of the Willson Auditorium.

In 2014,  I ran for the Montana House of Representatives in District 66 and was elected. I am currently completing my 8th year in office. During my time in the House, I have served on the Energy, Technology and Federal Relations Committee, twice as vice chair.  I was also appointed to the State and Veterans Administration Committee and to the Education, Department of Health and Human Services, and Local Government committees.

In 2015 I was appointed to the Audit Committee.  This committee was created by the Montana Constitution to audit executive branch departments like the Department of Natural Resources and the Human Resources Division to ensure taxpayer dollars are being spent wisely and efficiently and that program objectives are being met. I currently serve as the chair of the committee and will continue to serve on the committee if elected to the Senate

During my time in the House, I have worked across the aisle to pass legislation that has protected Montanan’s pocketbooks, promoted jobs, and protected the environment. I look forward to continuing my support for these goals as a state senator in District 33.
